It means a lot to me :)When I first made lynziepedia in 2023, i didn't know a single thing about web design and making a website had never even crossed my mind before my sister showed me what carrd was. i have a really deep love and appreciation for flashy, bright and colorful 2000s website design. I feel like when i experienced the internet during my formative years, i got to see the last era of web design that was meant to be functional yet also creative and fun for the user. even yet though, i never got to experience a version of the internet that truly valued creativity and fun, a version which featured beautiful design that people and companies made just because it was interesting and unique. before i knew it corporations had taken over the internet and eroded creativity to bulldoze modern internet design into becoming minimalist and just. not unique or fun anymore.I thought that, when i made Lynziepedia, i was one of the only people who cared about bring that old internet feeling back. something that someone made for fun, to be creative, to express themselves in a way that felt personal to them.
and once i got familiar with how card works i decided it would be interesting to see just how far i could push the limitations of card builder before it became impossible to properly implement any more features with such a simple building tool. to see how far i could re-create that beautiful, personal, 2000s internet feeling before it was impossible to take it any further without literally recreating the entire website in HTML.It's been 3 years and Lynziepedia has seen a lot of changes, im very happy with how it turned out and the beautiful journey it took to get it here. I'm honestly very happy and proud(!!) to say that after all this time, i have reached my goal.
It's become functionally impossible to keep updating and supporting this website inside of card. as such, this version of lynziepedia is going to come to an end. it will stay up, but its no longer going to get any new updates or changes.Lynziepedia is NOT leaving forever! she will simply be re-vamped into an html version. what i am working on now is desktop based, and i dont know if i will simply just make a new version of this mobile website seperately, keep it up, or just make it desktop exclusive again. i might keep this version for mobile users, i make make it desktop-exclusive again, or i make hard-code two html versions. who knows.Don't worry, I'm not going away. I'll be back soon. Until then though, take a look around one last time!
